Challenges of Remote Work
- Four things humans need for mental balance
- Connection to nature
- Connection to tribe
- Blood flow
- Uninterrupted workspace
- Pre-Covid and pre-Remote work, those things were established by going to an office
- By leaving our house and going to an office, we encountered outside air (even briefly) -> Connection to nature
- We saw other people in the office and socialised -> Connection to tribe
- Going to work got our bodies to move -> Blood flow
- Modern offices are designed for performance with call booths and conference rooms -> Uninterrupted workspace
How can we maintain Positive Mental Health?
- Connection to Nature

- See other people at least once a week
- Call your friends and family daily, just to talk
- Blood flow
- Be active and exercise daily
- Use a treadmill
- Uninterrupted workspace
- Have a designated working area
- Talk about your feelings and write them down - Use a Positive Gratitude Journal
- Eat well, avoid junk food
- Get enough sleep
- Value yourself (I am enough - I matter)
- Surround yourself with good people
- Do things you enjoy
- Set realistic goals
- Learn new skills

- Practice self-kindness = forgive yourself
- Workout 30 minutes daily
- Get outside each day

Home Office Set-Up
- Designate an area in your home as your workspace. If possible, make it separate from your sleeping area
- Set it up in an area with lots of natural lighting
- Invest in a good chair and desk (you can use your $1,000 work-from-home stipend for this)
- If working from home is too isolating, use your $500/month stipend to get a coworking space membership
Work Routine
- Schedule meals, exercises, and breaks into your calendar
- Create rituals for starting and ending your work day, for example, walks
- Set meetings lengths to 25 or 50 minutes to allow for small breaks in between meetings
- Ask âHow are you doingâ in your meetings
- Attend weekly coffee chats - creates a positive community
- Send Good Vibes to your colleagues
- Use emojis to convey emotions
- Set boundaries for after-work hours and OOO time
